Asteroceras Obtusum (Prepared Both Sides)

£210.00

This ammonite was found at Charmouth on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset in 2024 in a large stone on the beach. When the stone was initially broken open, the ammonite was partially revealed on both sides. I decided to prepare both sides shell-off so that light can shine through the calcite on either side. These asteroceras obtusum ammonites are world famous for their beautiful colours and have been collected by fossil hunters for over 2 centuries. There is some cosmetic damage to the ammonite on either side from the initial stone spilt but this doesn’t detract too much from the overall aesthetic.

Approximately 195 million years old

Fossil dimensions: 85mm at widest point.
