Ichthyosaur Bones

Four Ichthyosaur bones found at Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, England. One complete Ichthyosaur vertebra, two Partial Ichthyosaur vertebrae and a partial Ichthyosaur scapula. All were found on the beach at Lyme Regis and have varying degrees of wear.  The white “flecks” in the bones are where calcite has infilled the holes in where blood vessels were. Ichthyosaurs has roughly 180 vertebrae in their body and two scapula bones. All approximately 195 million years old. 

Largest: 34mm across at widest point

Smallest: 16mm across at widest point
