Asteroceras and Xipheroceras
This piece was found on the beach at Charmouth on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset in 2023, and displays two classic ammonites from the coastline. Both of the ammonites have been prepared shell-off to reveal the beautiful yellow calcite colours beneath and the larger asteroceras ammonite displays some lovely sutures. The xipheroceras has a bite mark on the outer whorl where it was likely attacked and killed by another Jurassic sea creature. Both ammonites have been entombed in the same stone with each other for over 195 million years!
Fossil dimensions: Asteroceras: 40mm, Xipheroceras: 35mm
Rock dimensions: 135mm x 115mm
