Partial Ichthyosaur Femur
This partial Ichthyosaur femur was found rolling around on the beach at Lyme Regis in 2023 and is a nice example of a beach-rolled bone. This bone is the top half of the femur closest to the body. The femur connected the paddle to the body and is part of the limb of the ichthyosaur, helping it to swim efficiently in the Jurassic oceans. Ichthyosaurs had only 2 femurs in their body in their hind limbs. Approximately 195 million years old.
