Pathological Promicroceras Ammonite
Pathological promicroceras ammonite from the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, England. This fossil was initially found in a large stone on the beach at Charmouth, and has been carefully prepared to reveal the fossil for the first time in 196 million years. Pathologies in ammonites are relatively rare, and for an unexplained reason this ammonite grew differently, and took up a slightly different shape to most! The rock has a cut-base so that the piece can be displayed without the need of a stand.
