Xipheroceras and Promicroceras
This small nodule was found on the beach at Charmouth on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset in 2024, and displays two classic ammonite species from the coastline. The promicroceras is at a slight angle and likely washed up against the xipheroceras as the Jurassic sea currents pushed it along the seafloor. The Promicroceras has a bite mark where it was likely attacked and killed by another creature. The two ammonites have been entombed in the stone together for over 195 million years!
Fossil dimensions: Promicroceras: 31mm Xipheroceras : 29mm
Rock dimensions: 100mm x 70mm
