Promicroceras Ammonite

£23.00

Promicroceras ammonite from the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, England. This fossil was initially found in a large stone on the beach at Charmouth, and has been carefully prepared mostly shell-on using high detail precision tools to reveal the fossil for the first time in 195 million years. There is also a small bivalve fossil attached to the ammonite on one of the inner whorls. It is likely that the bivalve used the ammonite shell on the seafloor as a substrate to grow off. The rock has a cut base so that the piece can be displayed without the need of a stand.

Fossil dimensions: Max width: 22mm

Rock dimensions:  4.3cm x 3.7cm x 2.5cm
